Mask Runner (2026)
This is a game created for Global Game Jam 2026, in a group of 6. During the 2-day timeframe of design and development, I took charge as the level designer and visual designer.
About the Game
A Game where you can mask off collisions and even gravity! Use such abilities to help the runners reach their goal!
Controls
Left mouse: drag on the player at the start of the level to apply direction and power. Press to disable collision, release to enable collision.
Right mouse: press to disable gravity, release to enable gravity.
Space bar: release the runner after being applied direction and power.
Forgotten Colors (2025)
This is a game created in 5 days, in a group of 6. During the design and development, I took charge as the system & level designer and UI artist.
Story
The player is an ordinary university student leading an unremarkable daily life. One day, while gazing into a mirror, they are transported into a fantastical castle. The castle serves as a symbol of the protagonist's inner world; as they explore its depths, they gradually recall the unfulfilled dreams of their childhood and come to realize what they have truly yearned for all along: to become a manga artist. By the story's conclusion, the protagonist resolves to transform their life and pursue the dream held within their heart.
Gameplay
The levels are designed around a "Dual-World Linkage" theme, in which players will explore the various connections between two distinct worlds. Players must alter the state of objects and furniture in the real world to manipulate mechanisms and terrain within the fantasy world.
The locations of objects in the real world correspond to the terrain of the fantasy world; players must seek out "objects capable of reflecting light" to switch between the two worlds.
The Rotating Ball Game (2023)
The Rotating Ball Game is a vertical-scrolling platformer game, featuring a core mechanic of a smaller ball jumping and interacting with larger rotating balls.
It was created in August 2023, during a game jam in a team of three: Chenzhe Mo, Xiangmeng Lv, and me. It is a game that aims for creativity and pushes the limitations of platformer games. During the collaboration, I served mainly as the planner and level designer.
The theme for the part of the game our team developed is the Universe, in which the small ball acts as a neutron star while the big balls act as planets. In the game, the neutron star rotates around the planets to fly higher while keeping its size from getting too big or too small.
There could be many other themes that differ in mechanics and gameplay. Ideally, it can become one of the offline mobile games that involve a variety of themes and gameplays like Cut the Rope or Plants vs. Zombies. The only thing that does not change about the game is “big balls as platforms and small balls as the player”, while the gameplay varies depending on the themes, when the big ball and small ball represent different things.
